Contemporary luxury formed the inspiration for this elegant house at Hathersage in Somerset West. Part of a boutique private estate, Interior Designer June Hawkins was tasked with creating a home that felt modern while remaining appealingly comfortable and inviting. This interior represents an eclectic mix of Scandinavian, contemporary Italian and mid-century designs. Through the combination of stainless steel, leather, textured fabrics and wood June has created an aura of unfussy sophistication.
A lesson in not being afraid to mix and match, cooler shades of grey and purple have been masterfully blended with rich hues of orange and brown. Designs in grey and silver such as the Halo sofa and Moda chair are offset by plush throws and luxurious scatter cushions in purple velvet and herringbone print.
The palette used for Heathersage was guided by Pantone’s avant-garde picks for 2018 including “Autumnal hues that evoke the feeling of leaves on the forest floor, rich plumage and twilight reveal a modern fall palette of deep and rich tones with outbursts of colourful surprise.” Pops of Russet Orange are the real feature here as seen in the Cube chair. A rich orange which almost leans red, this bold colour exudes the warmth of nature, adding an organic vibrancy to the home.
The beauty of this interior lies in its details; a quirky lamp, indoor plants, unique vases and sculptures in metallic shades. All sourced from Aura Interiors, these decorative objects tie rooms together, creating flow from the kitchen to the living space.
